El budismo ve la muerte como un período de descanso, como el acto de dormir, mediante el cual la vida recobra energías y se prepara para nuevos ciclos de existencia.
Para morir bien, uno tiene que haber vivido bien. Para quienes han transcurrido su existencia fieles a sus convicciones y han trabajado para brindar felicidad a los demás, la muerte puede llegar como un descanso reconfortante, como un sueño bien ganado después de un día de gratos esfuerzos.
La muerte no discrimina: nos despoja de todo. La fama, la riqueza y el poder son absolutamente inútiles en el estado de desapego total de los últimos instantes de nuestra existencia. En ese momento, en lo único que podemos confiar es en nosotros mismos. Debemos afrontar la muerte con solemnidad, con la sola armadura de nuestra cruda humanidad, con el registro real de nuestras acciones, de acuerdo con las elecciones que asumimos en la vida. "¿He sido fiel a mí mismo?". "¿Qué he aportado al mundo?". "¿De qué estoy satisfecho y cuáles son mis remordimientos?". - "La vida y la muerte"Concepto budista.-
